Dr. Agustin B. Vencer, Jr. (Jun to friends and JV to his staff and colleagues), has a passion for discipling the nations. He developed the DNA Vision – a strategic program of churches transforming the nations. The vision is now shared and taught in many nations.
He is currently Executive Director of Dawn Ministries Leadership Development and Director for Asia – Oceania. He has been Chairman of Dawn Philippines since 1983 and is actively involved in Saturation Church Planting in the Philippines.
Prior to joining Dawn Ministries, he served as the International Director of World Evangelical Fellowship (WEF) for 9 years. He was the first Third World leader to occupy WEF’s top post since it’s beginnings in 1846.
He was founding Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship of Asia (EFA), General Secretary of the Philippine Council of Evangelical Churches (PCEC) from 1978 – 1993, and founding General Secretary of the Philippine Relief and Development Services (PHILRADS). He also served as Country Director of World Relief (1980-1992) and Compassion International. He is an ordained minister and a Bishop of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Churches of the Philippines (CAMACOP). He became Pulpit Minister of Alliance Fellowship Church in 1986 and continues as Pastor Emeritus today.
He has written numerous booklets on such subjects as DNA Vision: Churches Transforming the Nations, Church and State, Management leadership, and Relief and Development. His articles have appeared in various journals and magazines, and he has presented papers in several international evangelical consultations. A respected leader, visionary, organization man, writer and preacher, he travels extensively speaking and lecturing at various conferences, seminars and fora.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Preparatory Medicine from Central Philippines University in Iloilo City, a Bachelor of Arts in General Science from Southern Islands Colleges, General Santos City, and Bachelor of Laws from the University of the East, Manila. He passed the Philippine Bar in 1973. In 1990, he was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Letters by Toccoa Falls College, USA and in 1992, an Honorary Doctor of Divinity by Ebenezer Bible College and Seminary. He is listed in the 10 th Edition of “Who’s Who in the World,” 4 th Edition of “Who’s Who in Religion,” and “Who’s Who in International Organizations, 1992.” His biography, “Poor Is No Excuse,” was written by John Allan and published by Pater Noster Press, England in 1989.
JV and his wife Annabella are blessed with four children, two daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, and two granddaughters: Andrew John (married to Angela Cartwright, daughter Emma Grace), Alystaire Ann (married to Christopher Capen), Alcoe Philip (married to Jessica Hall, daughter Jade Elizabeth) and Augustine Paul.
